Energetic utilisation

Since the realisation of the TASi regulations, the energetic utilisation of waste heavily gains importance. The municipal waste disposal has been restructured to a large extent and alternative concepts of treatment like the mechanical, biological waste treatment (MBA) have been realised in many places. These form out of sub-streams or the entire waste output combustible waste fractions, the so-called substitute fuel. The production of substitute fuel that is used energetically in many different ways in coal-fired power stations, cement plants or special substitute fuel plants is just part of the energetic utilisation of waste. The largest part of the waste produced in Germany is utilised or disposed in waste-fuelled power stations or waste incinerating plants respectively. Waste wood and industrial rest wood is used to a large part for energy generation in special biomass heating power station. Municipal biowaste as well as industrial or agricultural waste materials can be utilised in biogas plants for the generation of power and heat.
